what is AR?:
Augmented reality is a technology that projects computer-generated augmentation(graphics) on top of reality. One of the best examples of AR is Snapchat filters.
History of AR:
Augmented Reality technology was invented in 1957 to some extent Morton Heilig.
He invented the Sensorama which delivered sound, visuals, vibration, and smell to the viewer
- In 1968 Ivan Sutherland, a Harward professor, and computer scientist created the first head-mounted display called the "Sword of Damocles."

- In 1974 Myron Kruger, a computer researcher and artist, built a laboratory at the University of Connecticut called 'Videoplace' that was entirely dedicated to artificial reality.
- In 1990 Tom Caudell, a Boeing researcher, coined the term 'Augmented Reality'
- In 1992 Louis Rosenburg, a researcher in the USAF Armstrong's Research Lab, created ‘Virtual Fixtures’, which was one of the first fully functional augmented reality systems.
Augmented Reality is among the fastest growing and fascinating technologies today. Many companies investing big in the field of Augmented reality. After 5/6 years we will witness the drastic change in technologies which will include Augmented Reality. Now a days large number of people have access to Digital devices and that is going to be a very important part of augmented reality.
Let's talk about one example, You might have Played a Pokemon Go Game where we have to catch pokemon. when we look at it we will understand how they have used augmented reality in-game. we need to catch the pokemon and that game shows us where is the pokemon it shows pokemon in a real place like it is really present there. so that is augmented reality where we impose whatever we have to show on real objects.

Another example is Ikey furniture app where you can see that if you have to buy furniture for your house and you want to see how it is going to look at various places inside the room before buying it then you just have to open your mobile phone camera and have to select the furniture you want to buy and it will show you how it is actually going to look inside your room by using Augmented reality.
Augmented reality helps people to impose imaginary objects on the real world. augmented reality will help in healthcare, education, transportation, gaming, and many more fields.
Immersive Technologies:
1) Augmented Reality (AR)
2) Virtual Reality(VR)
3) Mixed Reality(MR)
